Growing plants is easy as long as you make sure the biodiversity is present in your soil! How do you do this?
– Always make sure the soil is covered with organic material, such as compost, bark and mulches. Even pulling weeds and dropping them around the drip line of a plant is great. NO BARE SOIL EXPOSED
- Freshen up your soil cover every 2-3 years making sure to leave the old material in place, just keep piling it up.
- Never till your soil! When tilling you destroy the microbiology and Myco Networks.
- For woody plants (Trees and Shrubs) keep a woody mulch as soil cover, for herbaceous plants (Vegetables and Perennials) keep a manure, grass clipping type mix as a soil cover, the woody material keeps a strong fungal network and the manure blend will promote a beneficial bacteria colony.
- When transplanting add organic nutrients and additives along with our Growing Mixes. This will jump start your soil biology, once the plants are well established self sufficiency takes over. Even watering will be cut down 80-90%.
- For more information see our Plant Care Page and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact us
- No matter what your planting adding wood chips to the bare areas of your landscape 6-12″ deep will be sooooo very beneficial!
